Emerging from Provo, United States, Michael Barrow & the Tourists seem to be on the right track to national glory. Active for the past few years, the group has been racking up impressive support and feedback, even smashing the one million streams mark with their eclectic banger ‘Sweet Honey’, in 2019. Having released their latest album ‘Clover’ in 2021, their focus shifted to a more wholesome indie and rock outlook, allowing them to deliver poignancy and relatability with unmatched charisma and gravitas.
‘One Track Mind’ features on that very same album. A question soars: can we expect a new release from Michael Barrow & the Tourists? Everything points to a return later this year… we’ll have to wait and see!
Sonically, ‘One Track Mind’ is more akin to indie-pop stylings, layering emotional vocals over a Keane-flavoured grand piano-blessed environment. Of course, guitars are ever present, keeping the track at bay. Barrow’s vocals are evocative and dynamic, a real pleasure to listen to. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Clover’, the band explains: “I wrote it at a time when all of my waking moments were consumed by replayed memories of having lost one of the most important relationships of my life. I thought if I wrote it all down, it would help me to move on.”
