There’s a lot to unpack in ‘H.O.M.B’: from melancholic, relatable lyricism to its luscious and minimal R&B imprint, the record is the perfect example of Mia Delamar’s artistic prowess, perfectly fitting the complexities of modern love and broken relationships. ‘Complicated’ opens the record in classic fashion, channelling a slice of traditional R&B and emotional reckoning. ‘Say That’ introduces a fiercer and punchier character, with Mia performing her malleable and evocative vocals on top of a bouncy, electronic-powered production.
‘Whatever’ pushes the EP into poppier and uplifting territories, flourishing over catchy melodies and memorable choruses (Ariana Grande-Esque, we’d say). ‘H.O.M.B’ takes the record to a close, also doubling as lead single. It is certainly the stronger episode here, a slice of hip-hop wittiness and R&B passion.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Delamar explains: “I want listeners to feel empowered and in love. This project is going to represent the end of the summer, it’s really going to bring in those last couple of days we have left to just soak it all in and have fun.”
