This is our second encounter with Melted Computer. Writing about the San Diego-based outfit’s previous record – ‘Saturday EP’ – we proudly declared it “a whirlwind of filtered samples, cinematic references and lo-fi sound design, all drenched in a distinctly vintage livery.” We stand by our words: the project is certainly moving through the fringe of electronica and modern pop, also embodying a digitally nostalgic character that’s ever so charismatic.
Now, Melted Computer returns with ‘Maybe’, a track that doesn’t necessarily continue on the same path as previous material. Of course, we are in the same ballpark: dreamy electronica and lo-fi elements, but this time around there’s something a tad more indie and less leftfield. Built on a bouncy beat, clean guitar tones and glitchy synths overdubs, the song is as hazy and vibrant as possible.
Doubling down on the experimental flair and the wide eclecticism always enjoyed by the project, Melter Computer explains: “My new track “Maybe” is experimental in nature and unlike a lot of stuff out there. In making my music I take inspiration from many genres and artists. I always try to make something unique.”
