Emmrose is genuinely one of my favourite artists around. I first discovered her music back in 2021 when she released a tune called ‘Afterlife’, and I’ve been a firm and dedicated fan ever since! The Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter recently returned with her third single of the year in the form of ‘Electric Nights’, a synth-filled and reverb-drenched track that sees her going down a different sonic path to what we’ve become accustomed to. Drawing inspiration from bands like Beach House and Cigarettes After Sex, Emm and fellow Brooklyn indie pop artist Richard Orofino have gone on to create a dreamy and cinematic masterpiece.
As for the meaning behind the song, Emm says that she was inspired by imagining her own scene in a John Hughes-style movie, with the leading male being rejected by the popular female. “I wrote the lyrics as if we were watching a slow dance where you didn’t have anyone to dance with,” she says. “And you were rejected by the person you liked”.
Mixed and mastered by producer and composer Mike Abiuso, ‘Electric Nights’ is yet another absolute stunner that Emmrose can proudly add to her discography. With each venture into different genres and sounds, she consistently delivers the goods, and her brand new album ‘Thorns’ is just twelve days away!
