Emerging from Sweden, MedsE is what you would describe as an eclectic producer, an inspired and sapient creative perfectly at home in fuzzy EDM or modern Hip-hop and grime territories. You name it, MedsE will provide it. ‘Hounds’ is the project’s latest effort, a charming blend of infectious, witty grime and techno and dubstep elements. The record takes a hilarious approach to the challenges faced by today’s youth, from navigating the complex world of social media to appreciating the ever-evolving rap landscape. A reflection of the struggles and dreams of today’s generation, with a fantastic satirical twist.
Drawing inspiration from legendary figures such as Daft Punk, The Prodigy and Deadmau5, among others, MedsE has been crowning a lifelong journey into music, originally starting at only six-year-old, when he had his first contact with Cubase and a synth with midi-ports (1987). Now, he’s firmly based in his home studio, innovating and pushing the boundaries of modern electronica.
His style can be considered quite dynamic and fluid, although it is possible to observe a trend towards the same grime and EDM formula contained in ‘Hounds’. ‘Take a Tour’, one of the project’s earlier singles, follows the same path, also representing the record that started it all. Describing his writing process, MesdE explains: “Grime was kind of a new concept for me, but I liked that I got some precise genre to label the song with. Until then, I had a hard time putting the genre on my productions.”
