Last year, we came across an album called ‘Under the cover of darkness’. Courtesy of Stockholm-based musician and producer Peter Ehrling, better known as Me & Melancholy, the dark, synthy, and mysterious record instantly drew us in. Having released a few singles since, we’ve been keeping a close eye (and ear) on the artist, and he’s now returned with a stellar new album titled ‘Illusio Veri’.
Translated into English as the illusion of truth, ‘Illusio Veri’ maintains that signature Me & Melancholy vibe we’ve come to love and appreciate. Dark electronic atmospheres and beat-centric rhythms dominate the nine-track record, creating a deeply evocative and sonically rich masterpiece.
Whether it’s the upbeat energy of the album’s opener ‘My bucket of things to do before I die’, or the gloomy and gritty spirit of ‘All the money in the world’, ‘Illusio Veri’ is a multi-faceted jewel. The diverse soundscapes ensure there’s something for every listener to connect with, and showcase Peter’s remarkable sonic range.
Influenced by the likes of New Order, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, and Pavement, Me & Melancholy concocts a unique blend of nostalgia and innovation, merging the best of past inspirations with a forward-thinking approach. Simply outstanding!
