May Fall Delves into Human Consciousness in ‘Sleep’

Introduced by a decisively retro and long synthesizer, ‘Sleep’ slowly develops into a dreamy, luscious electro-pop anthem, moving with elegant fierceness and softness towards a bright and catchy chorus. A great showcase of May Fall’s songwriting and production qualities, the record wraps the listeners into a cascade of brilliant and pensive tones, sharing a sense of warmth and kindness together with a flashy and majestic sound palette.

Part of the project’s upcoming EP ‘Submerge’, ‘Sleep’ continues to unveil May Fall’s artistic potential, following up from last year’s effort ‘Determinist’, a piece that was vigorously navigating 80s Hi-Nrg influences with a modern flair. Well, the new single is certainly more controlled and contemporary, focusing on nuanced textures and a chill-out character.

‘Sleep’ is also given a stunning music video, shot by director Thanos Kallianiotis in Thessaloniki, Greece. Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, May Fall explains: “Sleep is a great mystery. A necessity so fundamental in the human experience, to a point that after enough hours of awakeness, anyone would surrender to sleep’s powerful grip, and get sucked into its magnificent promise like a black hole”.
