Matt Saxton Reflects on Commitment in ‘Take It or Leave It’

Simplicity in music is underrated; while many creative figures might be drawn to pushing boundaries, innovating, and just really being as quirky as possible, others find comfort and joy in delivering accessible and relatable nuggets of lyrical inspiration, often built on a soothing musical offering. Matt Saxton belongs to the latter category, delivering beautiful nuggets of lyrical authenticity on a bed of folky goodness.

‘Take It or Leave It’ is the strongest evidence of that; a poignant and nostalgic folk anthem with rock and pop undertones, the single showcases Saxton’s ability to pick the right words, delving into the aftermath of a loving relationship with deep understanding and kindness. Taken from Matt’s upcoming album, the track provides a cathartic listening experience.

Speaking about the lyricism behind ‘Take it or Leave It’, the British creative explains: “When a long-term relationship hits the rocks, do you quit or keep going? Can you find the common ground and love to push on through, even when the road gets very rough?”
