There’s a strong sense of elegance and freedom in ‘Dream About You’. Embracing a rather quirky and eclectic outlook, the record delivers sleazy indie-pop styling with a touch of psychedelia. The result is a track that feels light and malleable, quite uplifting and spacious. Shoegaze comes to mind, and although that’s not the case, the chorus is pretty airy and bright, creating a tapestry of irresistible guitar tones and long vocal harmonies.
A modern record, ‘Dream About You’ is the latest offering by Atlanta-based sonic wizard MatAre, enlightened creative with a knack for guitar-based goodness. In fact, he’s more used to introspective and poignant compositions, as his latest album ‘Patternicity’ proudly showcases. The new record is instead a reaction to it, a way for him to part ways – even momentarily – with emotional and intense writing.
As MatAre explains: “After I finished and released my album, I had an emotional hangover. Those songs were so introspective and deep-diving into my life…I needed to just write a simple, catchy song that fits into pleasant summer vibes.”
