You might recall a very enthusiastic article we wrote a while ago, celebrating Mary Knoblock’s ‘Heaven’s Bride’, a record we described as “a transformative, spiritual experience / taking the listener on an introspective yet universal and relatable emotional journey”. We stand by our words: the project is incredibly magical and unique, with Knoblock exploring the ethereal territories through electronic and experimental stylings.
Space – that’s the constant in Mary’s body of work. There’s an overwhelming, spacious aura lingering into every track, a hypnotising sense of limitless greatness which transforms every track into a powerful catharsis. ‘Halo’ is Knoblock’s latest effort, an extensive album which greatly showcases her charismatic artistic energy. Along fourteen unique tracks, the record takes us through leftfield orchestral references and more avant-garde reworks – one must take time with them though, it’s a deep album, and it needs to be understood.
As Knoblock explains: “You may feel bits of a spiritual awakening or Hypnosis with these songs although not traditional hypnosis, the words may cause deep profound memories to sometimes stir. Recognize and release the feeling, it’s good to process the catacombs of the mind”.
