Martyn Scott Delivers Nostalgia-Laced Work of Genius ‘Turn’

‘Turn’ is the infectious and retro-infused new single from Rotherham-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Martyn Scott. It’s his fourth single of the year, and the artist immediately throws the listener into the sonic deep end. A kaleidoscope of intricate and exceptional guitar work gets the ball rolling, and I’d be stunned if Martyn wasn’t a very big Mark Knopfler fan.

He then makes his vocal introduction with a melodic clarity and captivating depth that further draws you into his nostalgia-laced soundscape. Ushering you into a world of heartfelt storytelling and soulful resonance, Scott clearly knows how to evoke vivid emotions through his work.

Influenced by heavyweights like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Smiths, Oasis, The Stone Roses, and classic 90s Britpop, Martyn has been able to tap into a sound that both pays homage to the past while also offering a fresh take and perspective. It’s the sign of a true musician as far as I’m concerned.

‘Turn’ is easily going down as one of my favourite tunes of the year. I just love everything about it, and it’s remarkable (and daunting) to know that one man can create such a sonic masterpiece. Please excuse me while I peruse the rest of his discography!
