Martin Callingham Shares Bucolic Folk Album ‘Patterns’

Gentle, soothing and evocative, ‘Patterns’ is a truly cathartic record, a slice of blissfulness and softness in a world that’s often coarse and complex. Penned by Bristol-based troubadour Martin Callingham, the album builds its attractive identity on bucolic acoustic guitars, crepuscular textures and light drums, all drenched in alt-folk energy and playful pop energy.

Crowning it all, we find Callingham’s evocative, nuanced vocals, taking the listeners on a spiritual journey around calmness and self-reflection, reminding everyone to take time for themselves in an increasingly fast-paced world. A series of nature-based imagery is paired with each of the tracks in ‘Patterns’, courtesy of Lyndsie Barnard.

‘Treehouse’ is the album’s lead single, featuring a stunning animated music video crafted by Martyna Sikonczy. The minimal, slow-moving style of the footage perfectly reflects the ethos behind Martin’s artistry. As he describes it: “The perfect antidote to the hectic nature of modern living”.
