Marottes Shares Latest Effort ‘Be My Moon’

‘Be My Moon (Full Moon Version)’ is a somewhat mysterious offering. Built over playful and videogame-flavoured electronica, the track boasts a rather simple production, the perfect setting for Marottes’ otherworldly and quirky vocals. The end result is a piece that feels slightly unsettling and peculiar while maintaining familiar and relatable qualities. Clocking in at the four-minute mark, the piece also rejoices in its repetitiveness, so much so that it becomes almost a hypnotising sonic stream, after a while.

Published under the moniker Marottes, the record is the enlightened creative work of Cleveland-based Mike Mytnick, operating out of Cleveland, OH. Not only a musical effort but also a visual one, with Marottes boasting carefully curated aesthetics. Perhaps it has something to do with Mytnick’s roots as a TV producer, something that’s clearly informing his current work.

Part of a larger album – ‘Languish: Under the Full Moon’, out now – ‘Be My Moon’ is intended as a ‘night’ version, after having been performed in a more poignant formula for months. It’s the project’s dark side, if you will, final evidence of the enlightened eclecticism enjoyed by Marottes.
