Marky Wildtype Strives for Understanding in ‘Tomorrow’

The keen reader might remember Marky Wildtype, rising musician and songwriter with a keen eye for self-reflection and personal storytelling. Writing about the project’s previous single, ‘Tell Me Again’, we proudly declared it “a sharp record, with lots of dark corners and eclectic references, making for a listening experience that’s surprising and intense”. Now, the Edinburgh-based artist returns with a decisively more emotional offering, ‘Tomorrow’.

The last single before the album (‘If Destroyed Still True’, out shortly), ‘Tomorrow’ sees Wildtype engaging in much more nuanced and poignant lyricism, combining the need for understanding and conflict resolution with Marky’s usual rock imprint. Sonically, the track is built on an ever-charming alt-rock imprint, quite nostalgic yet still contemporary. The British songwriter’s malleable vocals are a perfect match for such a vibrant effort, capable of going from anthemic, resonant sections to more intimate breakdowns.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Tomorrow’, Marky Wildtype shares: “Appropriately enough, it is also the emotional focal point of the album. ‘Tomorrow’ wraps an impassioned plea for understanding when words fail within an anthemic and powerful rock song, building to an epic climax”.
