We instantly identified with Mark Peters’ artistic ethos, especially regarding his latest effort, ‘Grace of the Fall (Acoustic)’. Keen to get to the bottom of his raw, vibrant character, the British songster makes the conscious choice to strip the record from any production embellishment, instead turning towards an old-school approach. Capturing a raw, impromptu live performance is what makes the track so special. It’s unfiltered, pure: a moment in time printed on a hard drive, forever (and available for us to explore at a moment’s notice).
Originally a full-band Folk endeavour, ‘Grace of the Fall’ has now been given a charming acoustic livery, putting Mark Peters at the centre of it. Showcasing his evocative nuanced and quirky vocals, the Vienna-based talent seeks to reconnect with his musical roots, allowing the listeners to connect with the project on a deeper level.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the release, Peters explains: “The beauty of performance is lost in so many productions these days, so I was trying with this song to capture a truly authentic sound – inconsistencies and all – not in any way cut and pasted or overdone. I wanted to record something brutally honest and with emotion, like the way I hear my voice break when I’m first writing a song in my bedroom at 1 am’’.
