Mark Gunner is an eccentric London-based indie-pop singer/songwriter who has just released his super sweet, enchanting, and warm new single called ‘This Christmas Please’. With Mark’s almost conversational vocal performance, his authenticity and honesty shine through beautifully on the nostalgia-laced tune. His unique bass-playing style is also showcased to all, and a simple yet so effective soundscape is effortlessly created. There’s an originality and unconventional approach to a lot of Mark’s music, and that’s what makes him such an exciting artist.
“This Christmas, struggling to relate has become the norm,” says the musician. “We live in a world where people associate seeing friends with anxiety and use social media mostly as a place to complain about social media.” ‘This Christmas Please’ serves as Mark’s answer to these problems, as well as a general message of encouragement and support.
Truthfully, Christmas music has never quite been my thing. Though I must say, Future Island’s recent cover of ‘Last Christmas’ is quite deadly. That being said, there’s just something quite special about Gunner’s new song that I’ve connected with. It’s different. It’s unique. It’s fresh. We can’t wait to hear more from this hugely talented artist!
