Hailing from Vienna, the quartet (formerly a trio) has been making waves in their local scene for quite some time now, surfing the Electro Swing wave with a bunch of remixes that took their organic, jazz-flavoured arrangements to dance-powered retro dancehall all across the world.
‘Up, Up’ is the group’s latest effort, a slice of soul and swing softness delivered with the project’s usual confidence and catchiness. Lyrically, the song is witty and daring – less elegant than its sonic counterpart, with a dualism that works very well, leaving a lasting impression on the listeners.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Marina & Ther Kats explain: “Let’s face it, sometimes life is tough. And sometimes it helps to simply put your middle fingers up and shake it off. Let’s celebrate! We had great fun recording this song and we will have even more fun playing it live, we will scream our hearts out!”
