Mariele Jankowski Returns with Honest and Introspective Jewel ‘Autumnal Red’

It wasn’t long ago when we were writing about Mariele Jankowski’s debut effort, ‘The Long Song of Mary Green’, described by us as a “folk-flavoured gem with anthemic tones and epic tinges”. It was immediately clear what the project stood for: wholesome, poignant and nostalgic acoustic tones, sharing a strong warmth and fuzzy feeling – the perfect recipe for attracting keen listeners. Jankowski seems to have a natural gift in that regard, the ability to write relatable and hopeful material drenched in reality and everyday euphoria.

Since then, Mariele has been growing her project: ‘The Queen of Wands’ confirmed what our hopes were. Now, latest effort ‘Autumnal Red’ gifts the world another slice of evocative magic, delivering a simple yet engaging and emotional song, so celebrative and cathartic. We are impressed: it’s clear that Mariele Jankowski deserves so much more. A bigger audience, a bigger profile… we are confident she’ll get there when the time is right.

‘Autumnal Red’ jumps once again into introspection, with the German talent wearing her heart on her sleeves while recounting a rather painful episode. As she explains: “It’s about a starkly traumatic event which involved a dog attack and a ruthless old woman who refused to behave in accordance with any morality.”
