Mariele Jankowski Delivers Eclectic New Single ‘Farewell and Its Fate’

Cologne-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mariele Jankowski is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing newcomers that the team and I have come across all year. In March, she put out her debut single ‘The Long Song of Mary Green‘, and she’s since released three more tunes, most recently ‘Farewell and Its Fate’. It serves as the final track that Mariele will deliver before unleashing her debut EP, and it takes on a sort of spaghetti western, traditional folk, almost medieval mystique. Jankowski’s distinctive vocals and emotional delivery are, once again, on full display, as she showcases her effortless storytelling and songwriting ability.

As for the “birth” of the song, the artist was inspired by having to leave the UK, with fears of leaving loved ones behind and not knowing when she would return. “The song tells of the protagonist’s death, looming over her on the road, and the fear of never being able to see her beloved ever again,” says Mariele. “And yet there is hope – and the certainty of a reunion in this life or another”.

‘Farewell and Its Fate’ has utterly stolen my heart. It’s so unique and original…Just what I’ve been searching for! I truly cannot wait to hear Mariele’s EP. I just hope she doesn’t make us wait too long!
