Mariana Masetto’s ‘Yendo’ is a Cinematic Wonder

Jeremy Bregman

Mariana Masetto is no ordinary musician. The Buenos Aires-based singer is also an interpreter, composer, percussionist, writer, educator, and professional yoga teacher all in one! Oh, she also has eight albums to her name already, and is gearing up for the release of her ninth! ‘Yendo’ is a tune that will form part of said album, and it’s one of the most beautifully composed and pieced-together tracks that I’ve heard in a while. It’s a delicate little wonder that intertwines Spanish and French lyrics to tell the tale of a woman growing up in a sexist and biased world.

Masetto’s vocal performance is simply stunning and, while not in my native language, still produces a relaxing and ethereal vibe that I’m just really digging at the moment. ‘Yendo’ was recorded in the artist’s own studio Bumbunita Musica, and mastered by the legendary Ariel Gato.

The Beatles, Peter Gabriel, The Beach Boys, and Thom Yorke are just a few names cited by Masetto as being of influence to her. A better top four I would struggle to put together myself! I’ve fallen hard for ‘Yendo’ and cannot wait to hear the full album.

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Yendo’ on Spotify now:
