A familiar face on our publication, Marcia rose to our attention earlier this year, when we featured ‘Insecurity’. Impressed by the British songstress’ talent we described her as having “relatable charisma and unmatched energy”, a statement we stand behind even more today. ‘Me and You’ is Marcia’s latest effort, continuing her exploration of eclectic and colourful R&B, drenched in soul and pop vibes.
Compared with its predecessor, ‘Me and You’ is a touch darker, both in its sonic and lyrical aspects. Built on a contemporary electronic production, the record provides the perfect settings for Marcia’s evocative and wholesome vocals, able to immerse the listener in personal and introspective storytelling. That’s one of Marcia’s best qualities: writing songs that feel relatable and meaningful.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, she explains: “‘Me and You’ is about always having that one person you have a deep connection with that you can go to for anything. No matter what happens, you always find each other again somehow. I actually thought I was creating a beautiful love song when I was writing the lyrics for this and then when I listened back I realised I’d written another toxic relationship song instead.”
