Swedish indie-pop duo Marble Raft are unquestionable favourites here at Mesmerized. Last year, the pair of Olle Söderström and Gabrielle Werme Baker delivered two of our best-loved tunes; the dreamy ‘Rites of Passage’ and the energetically magical ‘To Have and to Hold and to Break’. The two tracks will form part of Marble Raft’s upcoming album ‘Dear Infrastructure’, scheduled for release next month, and now the duo have offered up another appetiser before its release. Please welcome ‘Marble Halls’.
A lush, ethereal, and vibrant indie-pop duet penned in a seldom-seen 5/4 time signature, ‘Marble Halls’ is another masterclass in concocting accessible yet complex dreamy indie-pop. The vocal interplay between Olle and Gabrielle is simply stunning, drawing listeners into their majestic soundscape and imbuing their latest release with warm and magnetic allure.
“We wanted to bring the listener along on a voyage of discovery through grandiose scenes, though fragile and on the brink of collapse,” says the pair. “The young protagonist explores halls of marble while satellites collide in the sky. It’s sort of an eerie house tour framed by energetic indie-pop”.
Inspired by acts like Wild Nothing, M83, Graveyard Club, and Cocteau Twins, Marble Raft just get better and better with each new release. They’re an outstanding duo, and next month can’t come soon enough!
