There’s something unique in MANNERS’ new record; among a leftfield, gritty production we find fierce, and eerie lyrical matter, and the union of those two elements paints a very specific picture, one that screams authenticity and creative research. ‘DISTANCE’’ is all that, but also much more. Emerging from Oxford, UK, young talent MANNERS has been writing the song with fellow musician GIGSY, a fellow artist and producer in her own right. It’s a musical marriage that works perfectly: icy, haunting vocals pairs seamlessly with the glitchy, raw sound design the single has to offer.
Originally debuting in 2019, MANNERS has been building up material and momentum patiently, finalising an inspiring puzzle that will eventually land her debut EP (coming soon). Already boasting a plethora of live show experiences and media coverage, the project seems to be stepping up, finally revealing its true power.
Lyrically, ‘DISTANCE’ configures itself as a powerful and bold critique against its author’s dating experiences, but also against the systemic gender inequality so frequent in our industry today.
