Manje Khan Returns with Playful Gem ‘Sweetest Pie’

While rap has been flourishing in the past two decades, not everyone is talented enough to represent it. Atlanta-based creative Manje Khan certainly is. Under his moniker, he’s been building a career balanced on playful, friendly tones and groovy, bouncy beats. After a very productive year that saw him releasing an EP and a plethora of singles, the American talent now returns with what’s perhaps one of his most eclectic tunes to date, ‘Sweetest Pie’.

There’s something addictive in it: the instrumental relies on minimal beats and some vintage-sounding keyboards, gifting the record an authentic, original imprint. It could be said that Manje Khan finds a way to insert chillwave, lo-fi matter into his music, formulating a charming and intense sonic universe.

On top of this musical framework, we find Khan’s witty and fun vocal flow, never overpowering the track, instead working with it and gently wrapping the listeners’ ears in personal lyricism. In ‘Sweetest Pie’, the American rapper seeks to describe not being able to communicate properly with the people dear to us. As he explains: “This song is about people who can’t express themselves to the one they have feelings for.”
