I enter ‘Simultaneity’ with an open mind and a clean slate. I don’t know much about the human behind it (yet), cause I believe listening to a piece of music without any external influence is essential. So, with high hopes and a beating heart I embark on the incredibly hypnotizing and cathartic journey that awaits me. It’s a triumph of leftfield electronica with a decisively dancy outlook.
Kickstarted by the kaleidoscopic and spacious ‘Mosaic’, the album reveals its true character: mangled, ethereal vocal samples, luscious arpeggios and elegant beats all play a part in building a sonic horizon that completely wraps the listeners into escapism and introspection. This might not be a record for everybody, but the ones that relate to it, they are surely winning.
Bringing back samples of acoustic guitars (Gold Panda anyone?), ‘Cast’ enlightened me towards approval and satisfaction. I love ‘Simultaneity’ – Manatee Commune (aka Grant Eadie) is the talented human behind it, a celebrated producer and holistic creative with a long list of illustrious collabs and high-profile features.
