Luscious and Dreamy Hip-Hop in a Proficient Californian Collaboration

It is interesting to observe how collaborations come to be. Sometimes, they just brew slowly, over time, while two people connect over experiences and personality, sometimes even casually. For rapper PAZ el Pana and singer Potnt Child, collaboration was a matter of meeting each other on the same scene over and over, while travelling from show to show in Imperial Valley, a border region in California. Things quickly shaped for the better, with the pair working on recordings together and continuing to perform in the same venues.

Finally, earlier this month the two Californian talents released their first official co-write, a luscious, sleazy gem, ‘Water’. It could be easy to dismiss the record as the usual hip-hop concoction. Instead, after a deeper look, the listener will realize the many nuances the record carries. Starting with the production, we are met by groovy yet ethereal sonic matter, a breath of fresh air in the current rap landscape. Then, PAZ el Pana’s charming flow invades the track with nonchalance, creating an absolute mood. Potnt Child follows up with his sung vocals, exhibiting a strong R’n’B imprint that works perfectly with PAZ’s rougher tones.

Describing the feeling of indulging in infatuation and passion, ‘Water’ is sure to catch your attention, just give it a chance.
