Incredibly vibrant and electrifying, ‘Tender Weapons’ is an EP that takes you by surprise. Introduced by ‘Honeydawn’, the record seems spacious, sort of new-wavey, and quite minimal at first. Once we let Luna Motif do their things though, the focus quickly shifts to angrier and punchier stylings, circling light alt-rock anthems and post-punk extravaganza.
‘Adventure Kids’ takes us into grittier territories, with fast-paced guitar riffs and hard-hitting drum grooves. Even among such rebellious energy, Luna Motif finds a way to keep the track widely relatable and eclectic. The group’s lead vocals – courtesy of Christos Salaforisc – are honestly pretty mellow and digestible, making ‘Tender Weapons’ a universal record. Gerard McBride, Danny Kettle and Ross Byrne complete a talented lineup.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, the band explain: “It is both a protest and a remedy, embodying the duality of the human experience by highlighting both pain and healing, rebellion and reflection”. Hailing from Dublin, Luna Motif are clearly onto something real: we’ll be here supporting them.
