Lump200 Returns with Leftfield Piece ‘125Undat’

We wrote extensively about Lump200 last year; an explorer of everything leftfield and experimental, the Berlin-based musician uses his saxophone with a keen eye for sonic research, often stemming from his Jazz roots – improvisation is a powerful tool, and René Desalmand knows it well. Perhaps that’s what led to the creation of islesofyou.com, a social-audio web app that aims to increase collaboration.

125Undat is Lump200’s latest effort, a slice of grittiness and murkiness delivered through icy, hazy soundscapes and a charming, spacious baritone sax drenched in effects and distortion. There’s an overall fuzziness common to the whole track, wrapping the listeners in an artistic experience that’s eclectic and boundary-pushing.

Speaking about the record, Lump200 stoically explains: “Let’s say it is a pathetic celebration of everyday life with a long intro”. It’s much more than that: it’s a further showcase of the German talent’s inspired musicianship, paired with his willingness to innovate, both in art and tech.
