Lump200 Innovates Once Again with ‘I Am The Elephant In The Room’

The keen reader will already be familiar with German artistic explorer Lump200. Featuring one of his releases only a few months ago, we proudly declared: “that’s the only way society – and art – can progress. By finding the odd and the strange, and making it the norm. Berlin sound alchemist Lump200 knows it very well, having championed their experimental blend of electronica and sound design since the 90s”.

Now, Lump200 returns with what we could define as a more organic and eclectic offering, really exploring the marriage between electronica, horns and woodwinds. In that sense, ‘I Am The Elephant In The Room’ seems to be taking a step back towards more relatable and song-based material, although with forward-thinking sound design – something you would expect from Lump200. Championing a flourishing career for the best part of three decades, the German creative is wildly known for his ability to merge, innovate and surprise. This time he does it again, sharing a track that’s balanced on a seemingly approachable vocal part, only to assemble it into complex and intricate rhythmic patterns, where noisy and artificial drums team up with horns stabs and glitchy electronica.

We love it! A ray of sunshine in a standardised and grey industry. The record marks the beginning of a larger body of work – ‘Isles of You’ –  set to launch later this year. Alongside this musical offering, listeners will be introduced to Islesofyou, a platform designed to enable users to create, edit, and share audio recordings with others in an open and inviting manner. The app is a collaborative effort between the developers at Lump200 and the creative minds at Gravity&Storm.
