Lukx: “If I’m not making music I’m creating content for my music”

We’ve been following the ridiculously talented father and son duo Lukx since the beginning of this year and, with each new release, they just seem to get better and better. Based in Brussels, the two are known for their exceptional blend of rap, R&B, pop, and house sounds.

We wanted to get to know them a little better and were stoked when they agreed to an interview. Chatting with Lucas (the son) about which song he’s most proud of releasing, what success would look like for him, and what lies ahead, please give a big welcome to our friend Lukx!

Welcome, Lukx! It’s great to have you guys here! I’m proud to say that you are the first father and son duo I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing. How does that dynamic shape the music that you write and create?

As a father and son duo, our music is a mix of two generations, always trying to find the right balance.

My introduction to Lukx came with your hypnotising latest single ‘Breathing’, but I know that you’ve been releasing music since 2019. For those who don’t already know, who are Lukx in a nutshell?

Lukx is a father-and-son collaboration. My father (Dad) composes, arranges, produces, mixes and masters. I (Lukx) write the lyrics, and the melody, and do the visuals.

Now, I know this is a toughie, and possibly like asking you to pick a favourite child, but which tune of yours are you most proud of to date, and why?

That’s very hard but I would say ‘MAD’ because it has a good bounce in the song. The mix between French and English is well balanced and the overall feeling feels right.

You’ve mentioned artists like Russ, Mac Miller, Aminé, and Kaytranada as being a couple of your inspirations. Who are some other influences of yours, and would you say that your tastes have changed over the years?

My tastes have not really changed, I like to listen to and discover artists at all times. Some more of my favourites are Duckwrth, Dominic Fike, Luidji, and Sheldon.

When you’re not creating music, what fills your days?

If I’m not making music I’m creating content for my music. Then I spend my time with my girlfriend, friends and family.

What would being successful in the music industry look like to you?

Make a living from my music.

You’re allowed to collaborate with any musician or band. Who do you choose and why?

I would say Russ, cause he’s the one that made me want to pick up a microphone and be as good as him.

Thank you so much for chatting with us Lukx, it’s been an absolute treat! What can we expect from you next?

A new song is coming out every first Friday of the month, so follow us to not miss anything!
