We are certainly late on discovering Luke Borchelt, yet we are glad we finally came to terms with his talent. Hailing from Maryland, the up-and-coming creative has been enjoying a great deal of growth in the past couple of years, touring with some impressive names (Shaboozey and Medium Build, among others) and gaining the attention of a vast number of tastemakers. At its core, Borchelt can be considered a country artist – his raw, deep and vibrant vocals are perfect for it. Yet, if one dives deeper, there’s more to it, as Luke’s latest album showcases.
‘Every Rain’ is a wonderful collection of meaningful pieces, all balanced between Country, Pop and Folk influences. The constant is Borchelt’s songwriting, incredibly vivid and personal, but with a strong, relatable character. Over nine tracks, keen listeners will get familiar with the project’s meaningful lyricism, but also with Luke’s willingness to commit deeply to his art and music.
As he so eloquently explains: “Every Rain is a testament to what you can do without leaving where you’re from. Last year I packed it up, left the big city, moved back in with my parents and gave music one final go. I listened to advice, I followed my heart. I got quiet and tried to put in the work. I learned guitar and leaned on my friends. We made this together, locally, fueled by bar meetings and backyard fires.”
