Some artists are just meant to be. You can see it instantly, they usually manage to build such a peculiar sound formula that’s hard to resist. Take for instance LUEGO, creative and artist based in Austin, Texas. His latest release, long-length record ‘THE VORTEX’, builds a peculiar sonic reference, navigating everything from modern, gritty folk to electronic and cinematic tales. What’s certain, is that you won’t forget easily about it, after hearing it.
The musical outfit of singer and songwriter Patrick Phelan, LUEGO has been active for quite a few years, although recent events have kickstarted the project again, with newly-found motivation. After moving from LA to Austin following a divorce, he was able to regroup and direct his energy towards pure and unfiltered music making.
We are glad he did that. ‘THE VORTEX’ is a truly interesting record. Starting from Phelan’s vocals, treated in a gritty, subtle distortion, to an eclectic, multi-genre production: everything screams ‘masterpiece’. Earlier last month, the project gave birth to a music video for the title-track ‘THE VORTEX’, giving a visual anchor to the Texan talent’s rich aesthetic.
A simple yet complex track, ‘THE VORTEX’ will help empower the listener while fiercely taking a look back. Recommended!
