Lovesick and Co. Reimagine Future Islands’ ‘Beach Foam’ with their summer breeze mix

There are few bands I adore more than Future Islands, so when I discovered that New Hampshire-based artist Lovesick had released a remix of ‘Beach Foam’, I was immediately interested. Lovesick is the brainchild of David Goolkasian, also known as The Texas Governor, and a member of the cutting-edge trio The Elevator Drops. Teaming up with Nick Phaneuf and The Calabash Band, they actually shared the stage with Future Islands during their first-ever tour! Fast-forward a good couple of years, and they’ve decided to create a truly unique and wholehearted version of the band’s classic tune ‘Beach Foam’. I just love what they’ve done with it!

Similar to the original, we begin with the sound of seagulls gently squawking by the ocean. That, however, is basically where the similarities end! Opting for an acoustic guitar and a laidback atmosphere, Lovesick and Co. completely transform the track into a breezy and gentle rendition, painting a tranquil canvas for us all.

To be honest with you, I’m always a little weary when approaching cover songs. They so seldomly can match and compete with the originals. Nevertheless, Lovesick not only does justice to the tune, he reimagines it and offers up a brand new perspective on the track!
