Love Ghost is the musical project of Los Angeles-based alternative singer/songwriter Finnegan Bell, and he’s just unleashed his gritty and grungy new single that’s simply entitled ‘Jealousy’. A prolific artist who has already released a full album this year, ‘Jealousy’ continues in signature Love Ghost fashion. It’s hard-hitting, intense, and heart-on-sleeve music that you can’t help but feel deeply in your soul. Inspired by a recent betrayal, Finnegan uses the only outlet he knows to heal the wounds. “A lot of people have experienced similar things to what I went through like loneliness, rejection, and being lied to,” he says. “I hope this song acts as a mental bandage for them in some way”.
The guitar intro, as “simple” as it may seem, is particularly haunting and sets the scene perfectly for the rest of the track. Things are dark, eerie, and atmospheric to kick things off, before eventually descending into a crunchy, anthemic, and forceful crescendo. I’m getting hints of Linkin Park, and Finnegan’s Chester Bennington-esque vocals only advance those feelings.
‘Jealousy’ is a smashing tune. That’s really the bottom line. Love Ghost has proven himself to be a dedicated and passionate musician, and that obsession and desire shine through bright in all his work.
