Louis Cross Returns With ‘I Don’t Know’

For some, songwriting is purely an enjoyable activity. For others, is a life-calling matter. It’s the very foundation of their identities. For Louis Cross, writing heartfelt and responsible songs is almost a mission, a concept he made clear in his whopping 7 years of activity. Debuting as an artist project in 2020, Cross has been showcasing an enhanced prowess for poignant lyricism and indie-pop aesthetics, while focusing on a thematic framework that raises support for disabilities and the wider LGTQ+ community.

Hailing from Manchester, Louis Cross can boast an extensive academic background having graduated in Songwriting at the prestigious British and Irish School of Modern Music, a place where he was able to expand and refine his writing expertise. While gearing up for an EP to be released later this year, ‘Better Light’, the English talent is dropping hints with a series of singles, the latest of which takes the shape of ‘I Don’t Know’.

Introduced by an almost rock’n’roll instrumental background, including jangling guitar and groovy drums, the track soon leaves space for Cross’ precise and malleable vocals, exploding in the extremely catchy and relatable chorus, which for sure it’s an earworm! Lyrically, we are in self-reflection territories: “This song is about redemption and giving back to the community after past mistakes”.

A relatively short song, ‘I Don’t Know’ is a memorable and relevant effort from Cross, showcasing himself as a songwriter to watch out for.
