Multi-instrumentalist and producer Lorenzo La Cava, professionally known as LLC, has released his homage to 00’s emo pop punk. Drifting away from his formally acoustic sound, LLC has reinvented his artistic persona, going from a soft solo artist approach to a full band sound full of attitude.
‘Limousine’ was written almost a decade ago as a lively song about going out and having fun with friends. However, when the lockdowns hit his hometown Sydney, the artist found himself returning to the song from a different angle. Starting out as a naïve song written with a teenage lust for life, it became a song of yearning for nostalgia and freedom.
Deriving inspiration from acts like Jimmy Eat World, Simple Plan and Yellowcard, ‘Limousine’ captures that nostalgic feeling that those who were teenagers at the time when pop-punk was the mainstream can identify with, giving the song a youthful flare. The track is packed with instrumental, vocal and electronic elements, adding to the whimsical exaggeration that is characteristic of the genre.
It seems that LLC’s musical rebranding has come at the right time, as the world starts to find its way back to pop punk and all its subgenres, giving the artist the necessary momentum to release his new, colorful, old-school alternative music.
