There’s a lot to appreciate in ‘Fire’. First, the track is quite introspective and intimate, slowly building its intensity over mellow electronic tones and minimalistic grooves. Lizzie Hosking’s vocals are a perfect match for such a wholesome framework, exploding into ethereal and dreamy goodness in the chorus, a section which completely wraps the listener into hypnotising goo. Overall, there’s a certain cinematic energy going around, especially as the single develops with the addition of strings and more textures.
Guess what, it is fire. ‘Fire’ is Hosking’s latest effort, and it couldn’t be more majestic. Her evocative, luscious vocals leave ample space for relatable lyricism, with the Aussie songstress sharing a tale of relationship troubles, hoping for a possible resolution. As she explains: “It’s a plea to a partner for some excitement before the “burn out.” Accentuating the feeling of moving out of that honeymoon stage and feeling comfortable with one’s person.”
A familiar face on our blog, the Adelaide-based riser has been showcasing a plethora of stunning singles this year, and it’s fair to say she’s on the verge of something meaningful. We’ll be here supporting her.
