“I was working on a writing exercise and I was really hungry. I took a break and all I could find was a bag of potatoes.” This is how Floridian singer/songwriter Liz Nash recalls being inspired to concoct her latest tune ‘Baked Potato’. Don’t let the title or the inspiration fool you though, the track itself is far more substantial than its cute and humble namesake.
Sure, at its core, it’s a tongue-in-cheek little number proving that art is everywhere, but ‘Baked Potato’ is also a remarkably intricate and beautifully constructed piece of music. Working alongside talented musicians from all over the globe like Jeff King, Oskar Cartaya, and Paul Gonzalez, the jazzy, infectious, and uplifting song transcends both genre and geographical boundaries.
Sonically and lyrically inspired by The Beatles, Liz Nash’s latest offering proves that music can be playful and light-hearted while still showcasing highly adept musical craftsmanship. Recorded at John Marsden’s studio, ‘Baked Potato’ is a joyful and positive earworm that doesn’t take itself too seriously. And that’s its genius!
Stay tuned for Liz’s online songwriter’s event in February 2025, promising a showcase of local and regional talents as part of the Liz Nash Private Retreat.
