Little Juke Unveils Eclectic Album ‘Departures From The States Of Mind’

Little Juke made their debut less than a year ago with the haunting, cinematic single ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’. Since then, the group have been the recipient of continuous praise from the likes of Radio X’s John Kennedy and Radio XS, among others. It’s not difficult to see why that happened: Little Juke’s music is rather incredible and nuanced, walking the fine line between guitar-powered, electrifying pieces and more expansive, eclectic offerings.

Latest album ‘Departures From The States Of Mind’ showcases exactly that, taking the listeners on an intense journey through 10 unrelenting tracks, each one contributing something different to Little Juke’s aural livery. While the record’s opener is the aforementioned debut single, follow-up ‘Round of Applause’ takes a whole different approach, empowering fuzzy, bluesy guitar riffs and a distinct rock prowess. ‘Time on My Mind’ is instead gloomier, a stadium-ready, slow-burn gem.

Elsewhere, ‘Strange Fruit’ takes the energy down a notch, showcasing the Birmingham outfit’s ballad-esque flair, a feeling that’s also found in ‘The Escape’ – a heart-shaking acoustic jewel. ‘Just When You Thought It Was Safe’ takes the record to a close exactly like it started, with a healthy amount of pompous electronic elements and an overwhelming, expansive evocative flair.
