Courtesy of Toronto-based indie-pop artist Lisa Humber, her latest tune is a radiant anthem of self-discovery and empowerment. Teaming up once again with producer and guitarist Justin Abedin, Lisa crafts an irresistibly warm and catchy little number filled with heartfelt storytelling and emotional resonance.
“The song reflects a period when, after enduring condescending and undermining attitudes rooted in deep-seated misogyny, I began to mirror these behaviours as a form of resistance,” says the artist.
Ultimately centring the track on her choice to prioritise herself, Lisa sends out a powerful message of reclaiming one’s voice and breaking free from bad patterns with unapologetic strength.
Having spent over twenty years as a stage manager, Lisa noticed a pivotal change in the live events industry when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Finding herself with a collection of indie-pop tunes she’d been working on, the musician set about recording her debut EP ‘The Space Between’ in 2022. And the rest, as they say, is history.
