After an extremely successful debut release, Welsh-based indie rockers LICO keep the momentum going on their infectious sophomore single ‘Casanova’. With a disco-inspired, four-on-the-floor beat, LICO’s new tune is scattered with melting synths and warm bass lines juxtaposed with an almost drum-and-bass breakdown. Having set themselves a task of creating a song they’d want to hear on a night out, the band crafted a track that I believe will have more than just them on the dancefloor. It’s bold, catchy, and utterly hypnotic!
Lyrically, the song sends out a message to all of those wannabe casanovas. “Everyone has seen that pushy fella on a night out who can’t take a hint,” says LICO’s frontman Declan Bodger. “This track is for him. It’s a warning shot and a plea for change. You aren’t a hopeless romantic. You’re doing her head in”.
Finding inspiration in acts and artists like MGMT, Kaytranada, SG Lewis, and early disco pioneers, LICO has come up with a truly unique and dynamic sound of its own. This sound has seen the band championed by the likes of BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, so we’re clearly not the only ones falling in love with their art. Just getting started, I get the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from LICO very soon!
