Hats off to you, Lexi Berg. The loyal reader will know how much we love hazy, emotional records. Well, the Swedish-American songstress turns out to be a specialist in exactly that, as it emerges from her latest effort ‘Lonely Satellite’. Blending honey-like and catchy melodies with folk-flavoured arrangements, Berg finds the perfect balance between her Scandinavian flair and Americana-powered character, making for a song that’s expansive and meaningful, yet incredibly polished and ethereal.
Produced by James Eliot (credits include Ellio Goulding and Black Honey), ‘Lonely Satellite’ is a near-perfect specimen. Layering acoustic guitars over anthemic drums and evocative vocal harmonies, the track also finds its complex identity in the many electronic elements, such as soundscapes and light percussions. The final result is a triumph, taking Lexi’s vocals to the moon and back.
Preparing to release a substantial collection of material, Berg explains: “This song is a heartfelt sing-along song with a dreamy soundscape and awesome message. I hope it makes people feel a little bit less lonely”.
