Birthing an expansive and evocative record, Lemonade Sin showcase something important: they are not after fleeting hits or temporary trends. Rather, their music is steeped in meaningful research, both from a lyrical and sonic aspect. ‘Deadly Sins’ is the perfect evidence of that. The group’s latest album, it focuses on the famous biblical concept of the seven sins, here translated into musical settings by the British group.
Active between London and Devon, the talented outfit bathes in modern indie and dream-pop territories, infusing it all with an eclectic electronic outlook, quite hypnotising and shape-shifting. Featuring a whopping fourteen tracks, ‘Deadly Sins’ develops with groovy beats, synths textures and polite guitars. The balance between male and female vocals works very well, adding an elegant layer to the whole album.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Lemonade Sin explain: “You hear the word ‘sin’ and most people probably think of lasciviousness. In fact we probably did too when we had the initial idea. But you start to delve into the different sins and if anything it’s more about human frailty in its many different guises.”
