Such a beautiful record. Introduced by a gentle acoustic guitar and a soothing drum beat, ‘Two Bleeding Hearts’ welcomes the cathartic and evocative vocals of Bruce Sudano and Valerie Simpson, creating an incredibly heartfelt Folk gem, the kind of track one would listen to in a moment of fragility and challenges, looking for comfort and solace. An ethereal-like piano later joins the party, enhancing an already impressive sense of poignancy.
After careful listening, one can really observe a whole lot of American identity in ‘Two Bleeding Hearts’. Balanced between Americana, Folk and Pop, the record perfectly fits its cultural settings, perhaps aided by the impressive social heritage Sudano brings with him. He was in fact the husband of the late Donna Summer.
Not only that: an accomplished songwriter, his credits have reached the likes of Michael Jackson and Donna Summer, among others. Valerie Simpson indeed equals that epicness, being part of the Songwriter Hall of Fame with her duo Ashford & Simpson.
