A mellow and meaningful record, ‘Alt-Reality’ places high importance on its lyricism, delivered with wisdom and charisma by Seattle-based songstress Leanne Wilkins. Putting together her band The Weathered, the talented creative is also gearing up for an upcoming album, ‘The Art of Letting Go’. There are a lot of sapient and cool-minded ideas in it, particularly relevant to our troublesome and extreme reality.
With ever-rising tension in the US political landscape and a breakdown in communication between opposite sides, Wilkins is keen to share a message of patience and understanding, asking everyone to take ideological barriers down, potentially looking for common ground. Some might consider this a radical idea, surprisingly. But that’s just how things should work.
‘Alt-Reality’ follows the same lyrical theme, wrapped into a lush and vibrant art-pop musical livery. The track grows in intensity as it goes along, eventually exploding into an eclectic and quirky instrumental outro. Wilkins’ stunning, evocative vocals help the song reach legendary status. Little did we know, she’s also on keys and guitars! Derek Pulvino on lead guitar, Clint Hoyler on bass and Ben Loshin on drums complete a stunning lineup.
