Lazywall’s ‘Kan Hez Yeddi’ is a Powerful and Passionate Anthem

I was totally blown away the first time I heard ‘Kan Hez Yeddi’, which translates to “No human being should be illegal”, from the Moroccan alternative rock trio Lazywall. Admittedly, I don’t speak or understand Arabic, but the intensity and passion in both the soundscape and the vocals are undeniable. “It’s for anyone different who feels that they don’t fit in,” says the band. “And also about others who are afraid to lose what they have”. Sonically, ‘Kan Hez Yeddi’ takes a rocky, grungy, and alternative form. It builds itself up comfortably until reaching a powerful and anthemic crescendo, and it’s truly one of the most perfectly arranged tunes that I’ve heard all year.

Lazywall were fortunate enough to record their debut EP ‘Primal Tapes’ with the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Jimmy Page) in Chicago. They’ve also performed at SXSW and numerous European festivals, so it’s not just us who are taking serious notice of the act.

Proving that music can cut through language barriers and, that it also has the potential to bring us together and unite, Lazywall’s energy and potency are too good to ignore. I cannot wait to hear more from this extremely talented three-piece!
