Lazywall is a Moroccan band that came crashing into my world when I first heard and was blown away by their debut single ‘Kan Hez Yeddi’. A powerful and passionate anthem sung in Arabic, it cut through language barriers with its potent and intense soundscape. I’ve been eagerly awaiting to hear from Lazywall again, and they’ve finally returned with ‘Ghadin Nod’, another seriously energetic, bold, and in-your-face banger. Translated into English as “I will rise”, the band are showing an uncanny knack for writing seriously anthemic and chant-ready tunes.
Influenced by everyone from Led Zeppelin, System of a Down, and Audioslave to the likes of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, Lazywall blends elements of alternative rock and metal with a twist of grunge to concoct their distinctive sound. Again working with legendary producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Jimmy Page), they’re clearly a band on a mission!
There’s a certain satisfaction that I get when discovering an act from the very beginning. I truly believe that Lazywall is a band destined for greatness. There’s no reason that they can’t reach the heights of the likes of System of a Down. ‘Ghadin Nod’ is another cracker, and I cannot wait to hear what’s next!
