Lauren Hulbert Shares Music Video for ‘Honeydew’

A gentle and mellow offering, ‘Honeydew’ is seemingly fragile and minimal, yet still intricate and deeply meaningful. Built over acoustic folk tones and measured electronic textures, the track wraps the listeners into a cathartic and bucolic listening experience, guided by the evocative and malleable vocals of Nashville-based songstress Lauren Hulbert. Melodies are easily memorable, with pure and honest storytelling put at the forefront of the record.

Written in 2010, recorded in 2016 and eventually released in 2020, ‘Honeydew’ is part of Hulbert’s large catalogue of backdated material, slowly seeing the light of day and connecting with listeners all around the world. It’s interesting how a song can remain relevant through so many years – while the exact circumstance behind it is no longer reality, its wider theme will resonate with any keen listeners out there.

Originally written for a former boyfriend, Lauren explains: “‘Honeydew’ isn’t about any specific person, but rather the idea of a love-filled relationship”. The release also benefits from an ethereal and aesthetic music video, courtesy of videographer Wren Huxley.
