LACHYO Unleashes Charming Debut Album ‘Oh Mary’

Jeremy Bregman

I’ve fallen in love with ‘Oh Mary’, the debut indie-rock, country-pop album from Australian-based self-taught singer/songwriter LACHYO. Drawing on inspiration from Kacey Musgrave’s album ‘Golden Hour’ as well as Katie Pruitt’s ‘Expectations’, LACHYO has created a collection of tunes that he can be truly proud of. From the stadium-ready banger that is ‘All The People’ to the more laidback sounds of ‘Float Away’, the musician offers up an album that will appeal to many people for all sorts of different reasons.

The song ‘Get Up’ has received the most attention in terms of listens so far, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a gritty and upbeat track that is seriously catchy, and the chorus lives within you long after the song is over. Other honourable mentions have to go to ‘Say the Word’ and ‘Screaming in the Night’, but I feel guilty leaving anything out, to be honest with you. The whole album is simply that good!

Working alongside Curtis Hatton, the pair have crafted what has been described as a “distinctly rural rock album” that allows for LACHYO’s emotional space, youthful drive, and grit to thrive. It’s a cracking debut album, and the future is certainly bright for this skilful artist!
