The keen reader might remember Kris James from a feature we did earlier this year, when we wrote about ‘The Way You Move’: “it marks a new phase in the singer’s career, a phase where he’s offering the listener his true self, bathing catchy toplines and contemporary productions in authenticity and character”. Needless to say, James has kept himself busy, working on a stunning new release, the poignant and nostalgic pop gem ‘Home’, while getting closer to his second album.
Having spent the majority of late summer and early autumn touring with the likes of Anastacia and Will Young, Kris seems projected in the right direction, for a project that appears to be more and more on the brink of stardom. ‘Home’ is a clear indication of that: featuring the artist’s precise, evocative vocals, the track showcases songwriting maturity and lyrical prowess, all framed into an anthemic, gospel-infused arrangement.
Explaining the writing process behind the single, James explains: “Home was a song Stewart Boyle, Sam Williams and I wrote together trying to capture the feeling of having that special person in your life, the one that you know will always be there for you, who makes everything worthwhile.”
